AFRICA AND BURKINA FASO WILL NEVER FORGET THOMAS SANKARA
Thomas Sankara was the president of Burknafaso between the years 1983 to 1987
This is one of the few things done by Thomas Sankara during his leadership
He sold all the Mercedes Benz of parliamentarians and ministers and sent them to the development of the country and then he made a Renault 5 car as a government car for all leaders, the car was manufactured in his country at that time and it is the easiest car.
He reduced the salaries of all the top leaders including his own and then removed the personal drivers of the top leaders and removed the first class plane tickets from the ministers and asked them to travel only on ordinary planes.
He snatched the land from the imperialists and people who monopolized large areas and distributed it to farmers.
The wheat crop improved greatly in his country, from 1700 kg per ha to 3400 kg per ha. Burkina Faso became self-sufficient in food.
He completely rejected help from outside, saying that, "He who feeds you will only drive you"
He was able to speak openly in public, especially at international meetings such as the African Union meeting, saying that the imperialists are introducing their theft through trade and financial issues in Africa.
He was a leader in asking African nations to completely stop paying foreign debts, especially to Europe, claiming that poor African nations do not deserve to pay the debts of the rich, especially those who exploited the wealth from Africa.
Thomas Sankara took an army warehouse to turn it into a modern market (Super Market) for everyone, the first super market in Burkina Faso.
Those leaders with high salaries, President Thomas Sankara asked them to use their salary of one month in a year to help the community.
He completely prohibited the use of air conditioners in public offices saying that it is a luxury and therefore the leaders must work hard to bring a good life to the Bukinabe before them first.
Thomas Sankara invited Burkina Faso to participate in the 1984 Olympic Games after he saw that the UN was completely silent about the acts of apartheid in South Africa. He did this to show his displeasure with bad actions against black people and also to show his position as President.
On the 15th of October 1987 Thomas Sankar until he was shot dead his salary was only 450 dollars and he owned one car Renault 5, 4 bicycles, one guitar, 3 guitars, including a refrigerator, again bad
